I decided to start with Zestiria before Berseria due to release dates. In. Underground in Area that leads up that has a Cutscene with Ragou. Their combat and diffculty are too easy or too annoying, no not hard annoying. I think you should definitely play it--it's one of my top 5 Tales games for sure, and I also didn't enjoy Zestiria. Berseria stands out as having an overall darker tone than some Tales games, emphasised further by the Velvet's unending and animalistic thirst for revenge against those who wronged her being central to the story. Zesty before Bersy. Zestiria had two endings, there was a bad ending you could unlock halfway into the game by being stronger than intended. Berseria is somewhat tied to Zestiria, if memory serves, but I wouldn’t say you need to play Zestiria at all. Personally, I’d rather play the better one first. I definitely get the criticisms for the game though and honestly, I would suggest trying to play Berseria first if you can. Tales of Berseria. Zestiria is sometimes viewed worse as unlike Berseria's 'set-your-own-combo' system.
